The Quest for the Northern Lights

Alba, a ten-year-old girl how live  in the southern countries . She often gazed at the starry night sky from her small village. Her grandmother had told her stories of the Northern Lights. A magical dance of lights in the sky.

„Grandma, I’m going to see the Northern Lights,“ Alba said one evening, her eyes sparkling with determination as the stars twinkled above.

You’re brave, my dear, but it’s a long journey,“ her grandmother replied with a gentle smile.

But that was enough for Alba. She had made up her mind. After writing a letter to her parents, she prepared for her adventure. With a thick coat, warm gloves, a small backpack with food, and a map guiding her north, she set off. All the way to the Nordic countries. She knew that there, under a starry sky, the Northern Lights awaited her.

Alba’s Journey Begins

Alba began her journey by train on the first day. As she looked out the window, she saw houses, roads, and mountains rushing past. The landscape slowly transformed—leafy forests gave way to a gray sky, and snow began to fall.

The train stopped at a station in the middle of the continent. There the winter chill bit at Alba’s face. As she walked into the deeper woods, she encountered a creature she had only heard about in folklore—Gargan, a small blue troll with large ears and sparkling eyes.

„What are you doing here, little girl?“ asked Gargan, smiling through his bushy beard.“I’m on my way to find the Northern Lights,“ Alba replied confidently.

„The Northern Lights? Ah, they are far away, and the journey is dangerous. But I will help you through the forest. This place is full of strange creatures, and not all of them are friendly.“

Alba accepted Gargan’s offer, and together they ventured through dark forests where dwarves dug tunnels in the snow, and hostile forest spirits tried to slow their progress. Gargan guided her past these threats, showing her hidden paths that only trolls knew. Though the journey was perilous, Alba felt her courage and thirst for adventure grow.

Alba’s Adventures in the North

After a long journey, they finally reached the North, where mountains rose high and snow covered the land like a thick, soft blanket. But as they climbed into the mountains, the weather suddenly worsened. Storm winds blew, and the snow became thick and hard to traverse.

„We need to find shelter,“ said Gargan. „There are creatures here we don’t want to meet in the dark.“

They found a small cave to rest in. Inside, they met a woman dressed in a white cloak, her glowing green eyes watching them. This was the Ice Witch, a powerful and mysterious being wrapped in the storms that surrounded the mountains.

„Why are you here, child of man?“ she asked in a cold voice.

Alba didn’t hesitate. „I’m searching for the Northern Lights.“

The witch paused for a moment, then gazed deeply into Alba’s eyes. „Many have tried to find the Northern Lights, but few succeed. You will only see them if you believe in the magic of nature and open your heart.“

Alba felt her courage grow even more. She knew she had to prove herself.

Alba Final Test

As Alba and Gargan traveled further north, they crossed frozen lakes. The journey was treacherous—the ice seemed stable, but beneath the surface, water spirits lurked, ensuring no one ventured too far without permission. As they walked across the lake, the ice began to crack, and they almost fell into the freezing water.

That’s when Eir, a fairy girl, appeared in a soft light on the surface of the water. „I can help you,“ she said gently. „You must follow the path the stars point to, for only they will guide you to the Northern Lights.“

Alba thanked Eir, and with her help, they continued across the ice. The stars lit up the night sky, and with each step, Alba felt closer and closer to her goal.

Alba Reaches the Lights

Finally, after many weeks of travel, they reached the top of the highest mountain in the North. The sky suddenly came to life, and then green and purple halos appear in the sky. As if they were painted by magic.

Alba stood in awe of the sky. There were the Northern Lights, more beautiful and majestic than she had ever imagined. They danced gently across the sky, like living energy connecting heaven and earth.

„This is incredible,“ she whispered, and Gargan smiled beside her.

„You made it all the way, little one,“ he said proudly. „You saw the Northern Lights, not just with your eyes, but with your heart.“

Alba felt a sense of profound peace. She had not only seen the Northern Lights, but she had also learned to trust herself and see the magic of nature that surrounds us all.
